Ok I think I might be back. I went for a run this morning. this was the first time since this injury that I did a mid week morning run. I made sure to take it easy and i felt really great. I have even begun shopping for a race for the fall. I dont' think I will be ready for the Blues Cruise but maybe the Harrisburg marathon. Roads yes. Perish the thought but I would have a lot of support if I do that race and it's pretty cheap.

Just as an aside is everyone dying this year or what? I know I am getting older (49) but it just seems like everyone is dying. Anyway, if you die can you please not do it in anger. I'm not pointing to anyone in particular but I'm just saying.

I ran with the Wanderers on Thursday for the first time in a couple months. I did a little over 3 miles pretty slow and did not stop but for a few techincal parts of the run.

On Saturday morning I got out again was hoping for a 1 hour run but only ended up doing about 45. I went from jenette over to allens lane and then up the middle trail back towards lincoln I went out to lincoln and then after the little bridge I tried a trail I had not done before. I went about a half mile up the trail and knew I was going the wrong way ao I started back down. I was feeling really good. I got up on a big rock and was running down it when I saw the green moss and as the realization was hitting me that this could be slippery my feet went out from under me. I hit the rock luckily on the flat and with the middle of my back. The wind was knocked out of me, but I didn't hit my head and my hands hit some soft dirt. After making horrible noises for a few seconds while I tried to get my breath back I took stock and realized that I wasn't hurt that badly just sore in my back. I decided to take Forbidden back which was about a mile away to the car. I just got a big scape on my back and some bruising on my arms and back. Very lucky that I fell so well.

Injured

I think I mentioned it a while ago but I am injured. I have had achilles issues since I started back to running. They got progressively worse and I ignored them. Finally one day I was sitting at work and my whole ankle was in pain. I decided to do something about it and went to see my doctor who confirmed my diagnosis. I am probably not going back to my doctor since he kept me waiting 45 minutes looked at my ankle for 5 seconds and mimicked what I said, prescribed a medication that completely wacked me out and signed me up for PT. The PT was the only thing he got right. I have been going once a week and I feel better because of it.
About three weeks ago I went out for my first trail run with my daughter. We did a small 2-3 mile loop and by the end of it my ankle was on fire but for the most part I was fine. I have been doing short runs since then and my ankle has been fine. It hurts but not nearly as bad as it did before. I think I have a fallen arch because I was also having forefoot pain and I am fat. I bought some arch supports and my running didn't hurt and was able to get out for about a little over three mile run this weekend. It's going to be a slow recovery but recovery is coming.
This completely changes my running perspective for the better. I am just going to run for the fun of it. and the whole training thing is out of sight and out of mind.
