Two runs

On Thursday I hooked up with Josh and the rest of the Animal Camp to run/swim the Wissahickon. These men and women are great. There were about 15 of us all together of varying abilities. We split up into three groups I chose not to run with Josh as I am not in any shape to keep up with him. Our group headed out of the VG parking lot and went up Buck Hill which I really hate and I got almost 1/2 way and walked the rest. We went out to Fountain and then looking at the time realized we had to head back. The plan was to do an hour run then hook back up and then do the swim portion of the program. We headed back on the upper trail and hooked up with the others at the inn. We then took off up to Chreshiem creek and then back to the inn where we swam across the creek. then ran off to Devils pool and I jumped in there. Man it was cold but not paralyzing. We then headed back to the inn after taking some pics and Josh and a couple of others swam across one more time. I chose not to not because of the cold but because of the spot where they were crossing was a little hairy for me. Good times. I am so glad that they included me in this run.

On Saturday I hooked up with Susan "the Great One" and Eric to run some trails. Both of them are in much better shape than I and about 1.5 miles into the run I knew I had it. Both my knee and ankle were very present and I bagged off the rest of the run with them and just did it at my own pace. It was a glorious day and once I wasn't pressuring myself to run anaerobic I had a great time. Now trying to run every other day to stave off this infection in my head and to get back into shape. My knee prevented me from doing another run yesterday.

Went for a great run on Saturday. Bob R and the wanderers were doing the 4 corners run and I knew I couldn't do that one so I did a 1 corner run going out from the inn to Northwestern ave. The weather was perfect and I hit the trail right after sun up. I went out on the Chestnut hill side wanted to go up to the highest trail but was lured into a lower one by a new rain run off that was just finished and is really cool looking I wish I had my camera. Anyway after a little bushwacking I made it up to the upper trail and went out to Northwestern and back in on the Forbidden. It took about 1.45 to finish the run and I had ankle pain throughout but there are too few days in life like this to pass them up.

On sunday I volunteered at the Philly Marathon. It was a lot of fun just like last year. Saw a couple of people I knew and I saw at least three runners crying.

Two Adverts.

After some time I got a couple of requests for adverts on this blog. I am happy to help out
first one I got was from Keving at theclymb.com Here is how they describe it

Hey,
I thought you'd like to know about The Clymb. It’s a private sale network that will give you access to insider pricing from an amazing group of outdoor brands. If you climb, hike, run, ride, paddle or ski, you’re gonna love this. Here’s how it works: you accept this invite and The Clymb will hook you up with deep discounts, usually 50-70% off retail, on gear from a different leading brand each week. Each brand’s product is available for 3 days only or until it’s sold out. Membership is free and by invite only. That’s why I’m inviting you. Here is my personal link

They sell Outdoor Research products which I have used and enjoyed.

Second request was from Ana at Run Reviews.
Which is a pretty cool website that reviews treadmills. I never liked running treadmills but sometimes they are a creature comfort and a help especially in the dark days of winter. If you are going to buy one I know you will need to know what you are getting as they are a major investment and vary greatly in quality, I kind of broke one one time in a hotel. Check them out it looks like a great resource.

Volunteering at the 18/22 water stop on the Philly marathon route this weekend. Looking forward to it I had a great time there last year. Good luck to all those running Philly. Dont let that last 4 mile hell stretch beat you. Most boring run in the world. It is why I do trails.

Did my first official 5 miler on sunday morning. Offical in that I followed the new Narberth run course. I ran a lot faster than I believed I was capable of running. I may be in better shape than I believe. I also believe that I may be mistaken both of which are possibly true at the same time. My ankle that started all of my non running over the summer is still really sore but it works it's way out. I am toying with the idea of doing some longer runs now but I am going to put that thought on hold as I a get myself into just running with consistency.
